On the 30th June and 1st July, Lightmaster opened it’s doors to electricians, builders, designers and other lighting specialists to share our extensive knowledge! We hosted the events at our Lighting Design studio in the Cotswolds.
We decided that we’d have three sessions a day for two days to make sure as many people as possible could attend. The three sessions ran for 3 hours each and covered every possible aspect of Lightmaster, from where we started, our procurement and operations systems, technical support and most importantly, new product!!!
We also ran a competition to win a case of Prosecco which was won by the lovely Hayley from Gramlick designs based in Shipston-on-Stour.
The groups of attendees were quite small, which was great as it meant they had more time with each of the Lightmaster team and we were able to answer more questions and talk in detail about potential projects.
Our MD Richard gave the introduction of Lightmaster and what we do. He started the company over 18 years ago and is still as passionate about lighting as ever. Dan the operations manager gave a talk on the processes we follow from an order coming in all the way through to shipping it out from our warehouse. Then it was back to Richard along with sales executive Michael to go through all of our new Standard Range product as well as a few things in the pipeline. This was followed by a technical talk by Matt. He went through different dimming protocols and the different drivers you should use for optimum efficiency when dimming LED. He also showed off some new technology in the dim-to-warm LED fittings. We had mixed reviews on these – electricians think they’ll be popular while interior designers feel the dimmed fitting is too orange. Also, with the technology only available in bigger fittings due to the cob LED required, the interior designers felt that it’s just not subtle enough to work in a home environment.
The last talk of each session was by design manager, Jon. His talk was about our designer range of products and also to talk about the different uses of different fittings, such as spotlights for slanted ceilings and low ceiling voids and asymmetric downlights for subtle picture lighting. Our showroom is (unsurprisingly) full of both standard range and designer light fittings which have been positioned to show their best uses. This allowed us to do physical demonstrations of the effect different lights can have as well as the various control systems we use here in our showroom.
A small selection of our exterior lighting range.
Home cinema with Philips Dynalite and Lutron control systems to create different settings.
Composite corridor showcasing our plaster-in fittings.
Design office fitted with a range of decorative products from suppliers such as Studio Italia and Foscarini.
We plan to host more of these open days as we want to share our knowledge of LED lighting and all the technological advances that go along with it.
Keep your eyes peeled for our open day invites!!
